Ruffles Queso Cheese Chips Review

Ruffles Queso Cheese Flavored Chips

When it comes to a chip with good texture, Ruffles’ ridges really do shine. They have a nice chomp but personally, I can’t remember other flavors than maybe sour cream and onion. That changes today as I was able to track down the Ruffles Queso Cheese Flavor, but how queso-y can it be? We know they’re not hot, with no liquid cheese, but surely the goodness is baked into these wavy and circular potato flavor discs.

Since we aren’t getting the Mexican restaurant experience with these chips, you have to understand that the flavor comes as dust, and these look and feel like they can coat your fingers. Please note this if you’re a keyboardist or doing work that involves your digits. There is no distinct imagery on these either. Instead, a block of cheese is the unfurled flag for the S.S. Ruffles Bag., Fortunately, they don’t have to hide the treasure too far into the bag.

Nutrition Facts for Ruffles Queso Cheese Flavored Chips

It’s always important that we don’t over-indulge, and knowing what we are ingesting is power. What do we get for a serving of Ruffles Queso Cheese Flavored Chips? One serving of 11 chips has 150 calories, 10g total fat, 1.5g saturated fat, 0g trans fat, 0mg cholesterol, 230mg sodium, 15g total carbohydrates, 1g dietary fiber, 1g total sugars, 2g protein, 20mg calcium, 0.6mg iron, and 340mg potassium.

As I said earlier, if you’re not cleaning your hands with water or a constant lick, you’re going to get a nice caking of dust. Not everyone is for the finger flavor, but the flavor of these chips may compel you to go that route. If you can stick the landing of just 11 chips for your serving, you’re really not doing a ton of damage to your intake bank. Go forth with discipline.

Queso, What’s Next?

The chips come marching one by one hurrah, hurrah (unless you’re stacking them like a real champion), and they’re addressing what their flavor actually is. If you and I said “What does queso taste like?”, we would likely agree that it is heavy on the cheese, maybe a little jalapeno. These chips I think are either lost in the factory or they’re just really close relatives to Cheddar & Sour Cream. That I can’t draw a taste difference between the two in this sitting.

What does this mean for the chip? If it is priced better than a Cheddar & Sour Cream bag, get them. If not, I almost 10-fold promise you, you can’t tell the difference. They’re so alike that there’s not even a measurable spice difference. I assure you, you won’t NOT get your foodie badge of pro status by skipping these.

I’m rating these as a 5/10 because Cheddar & Sour Cream is a good enough flavor by itself. Ruffles Queso Cheese Flavored Chips don’t bring anything different or new to the table. Ruffles have ridges, but they do not have a new flavor that tastes different. Maybe in a rare case that I got the “Oops” bag, but I’m fairly certain that’s just what this flavor is supposed to be.
