Doritos Flamin Hot Cool Ranch Doritos Review

Flamin’ Hot Cool Ranch Doritos

“Snackin’? We’re talkin’ about snackin’? Not a meal, not a MEAL, not a meal…Snackin'” – Allen Iverson if he wrote this article, maybe. Although I’m not “The Answer” Allen Iverson, I can tell you, this might be a subject he changed his mind on.

It is also important to note that although “The Answer” played for the 76’ers and 76 is not how many chips you should have. Snacking is an American past-time as with clear studies of obesity, especially within a sedentary lifestyle, I would encourage some movement, but I’ll save that for another writing. For those about to snack with me, we salute you. Grab a seat and make sure that your tongue is ready because we’re putting some heat in there with the Flamin’ Hot Cool Ranch Doritos.

The simple math that we can anticipate here is, we’ve had Flamin’ Hot chips and we’ve had Cool Ranch, so it shouldn’t be anything new when we try this, right? Wrong, big wrong. Flamin’ Hot Cool Ranch Doritos come out of the gate charging like a mad bull, reasonably so, they are almost red in color from their flavor dusting. The way I would say this balance is heat over ranch, with the ranch being light, but still iconic cooler ranch.

The good part about this hot chip product, is that it isn’t one or two chips are hot and then the heat simmers. No sir/madame/individual, this chip lets the heat keep coming so long as you keep the bag open and your hand churning out the chips. Your mouth can quickly become a fireplace so consider this my only warning.

If you’re new to my reviews, I like to do a small informational area so you know what you’re committing to ingesting. For these Ifrits of the snack world you’re getting about 12 chips in a serving (a serving is not the bag, we’re not FERAL!), and in this serving 150 calories, 8g total fat, 1g saturated fat, 0g trans fat, 0mg cholesterol, 190mg sodium, 18g carbohydrates, 1g dietary fiber, total sugars less than 1g, 2g protein, 0mcg vitamin d, 40mg calcium, 0.3mcg iron, and 50mg potassium. If you are able to keep this at a serving, it isn’t TERRIBLE, especially if you are lightly+ active.

Flamin’ Hot Cool Ranch Doritos Review

In my experience, it’s hard not to love most of Doritos’ productions. The texture of a tortilla chip, with a reasonable flavor dusting (sometimes with the Magnum Opus level of dusting overkill), and coming from an open bag, not an obstructed tube. Flamin’ Hot Cool Ranch Doritos are no exception, if you are a spicy food person, these are a great addition to the line-up. The heat is easily above mid-level and the flavor is at a high end.

These chips EASILY grab a 7.5 and are repeatable. My knocks on these are going to be that the ranch could have had a little more punch (that does impact the score somewhat), my hands look like I’ve been playing in rusted orange paint (that does not impact the score, that’s how that goes), and very slightly knock on the bag art. Stop being afraid of having a mascot or a little something extra on your standout brands.
